Retirement Boarding

Horses are retired for a number of different reasons. Whether retirement is due to age, lameness or a change in owner goals, locating a quality retirement facility is an important task. Our beautiful, quiet 60 acre farm offers plenty of great grass, high quality hay and daily inspections by Chrissy Kutlenios, the owner who lives on site. George and Chrissy have owned, bred and raced thoroughbred horses for over 20 years, and established Red Riding Hood Stables as a breeding and retirement home for all their thoroughbreds. Red Riding Hood Stables is only 60 minutes away from a state of the art equine hospital, MICHIGAN STATE VETERINARY HOSPITAL. Our farm can arrange transportation when necessary.

At Red Riding Hood Stables we understand how important your horse is and that you want the best for him in his retirement. Our full service facility offers both field and full board with regular grooming, blanketing in the winter, individualized nutrition plans, medication administration and holding for the vet and farrier. Your horse will be cared for as if it were our own. You are welcome to visit your horse as often as you wish. Some of our boarders come every day, while others live out of state and visit when they can. Either way, your horse will receive the consistent care that you would expect from a quality boarding facility.
